D3476
A recent arrival has been Class 10 No. D3476, which has been purchased by John Brooker. It looks decidedly shabby, but as it had not been painted since it was built it is perhaps not surprising. It was built in 1957 and delivered new to Kings Cross on Christmas Eve of that year. It has also been based at Hatfield, Hitchin, Sheffield, Retford, Lincoln, Shirebrook, Nottingham & Colwick, before being withdrawn and sold to English China Clays, for use at Fowey Docks in Cornwall, in June 1968. Eventually it was bought by Harry Needle and moved to the South Yorkshire Railway in 1992. It is complete electrically, but requires minor work on the engine. Some of the missing items have now been obtained and it will be repainted into black livery in the spring. It is expected to be on static display at this years Thomas event as Devious Diesel.
